The Tide Rises The Tide Falls is an ESL lesson plan which includes three sessions and 1.5 vocabulary worksheets.

1. Pre – Reading: Oral Discussion

2. Vocabulary and Lower Order Thinking Skill (LOTS) Questions

  • Low frequency words – difficult words with their definitions.
  • High frequency words – new words the students learn and use in multiple ways.

3. Thinking Skills and Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) Questions

– compare and contrast

– imagery

  • rhyming scheme

Students will be able to distinguish the three stanzas, compare and contrast and use imagery to express the idea that the significance of people in this world is overstated.
